MindTouch Powers AmplifySD’s Music Community

Good example of newspaper expanding its community outreach by using social software to support its Internet radio station. Nice coverage over at Mashable that contains the site link to AmplifySD.

Amplimedia is powered by MindTouch Nexus, its turnkey hosted service, integrating with SignOnSanDiego’s existing web and publishing systems. Launched in May of 2006, AmplifySD operates 24/7, playing local and national bands of all genres that are coming to San Diego. With MindTouch Nexus, AmplifySD listeners can contribute content on subjexts that interest them, and communicate with other listeners as well. Users can poste text, images, video and mp3 clips for a multimedia post on a band ar musician’s profile. The user-generated content created with MindTouch tools is incorporated with the editorial and syndicated content on the newspaper’s site as well.

MindTouch Nexus, which was released last month, has forged a nice working relationship with The San Diego Union-Tribune, which was among the first to use the Nexus service. Nexus offers a way for websites to extend contribution features to users and site visitors, which is something several traditional media companies are adding to their own online components.
